Creamy Cacao Smoothie

Smoothies have been a favourite of mine lately and this super simple yet creamy cacao smoothie has been a perfect chocolate hit to take away my cravings for the sugar filled commercial brands. The coconut ring is a great touch when you're waning to impress your friends or make your smoothie just a little bit more special. 



2 large bananas
1 C almond milk
1/4 C almond butter
4 tbsp cacao powder
2 tbsp liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup or coconut nectar)

To garnish: 
1 tsp sliced almonds
1 tsp cacao nibs
1 tsp liquid sweetener
1 - 2 tbsp desiccated coconut 


Step one
In a blender, add all ingredients (aside from the garnish) and process until smooth and creamy. 

Step two
Take your glass a line the rim with your liquid sweetener of choice. Roll the edge of the glass in the desiccated coconut. The sweetener will allow the coconut to stick and you'll have a coconut rimmed glass. 

Step three
Pour the smoothie mixture into your glass. Sprinkle over almond and cacao nibs. Add a mint leaf to garnish and serve. Enjoy!
